Benenden CE Primary School Pupil Premium, current academic year 2015 - 2016

Our pupil premium and pupil premium plus allocation for the current year is: £21,259.

At Benenden, we aim to meet the individual needs of our children in receipt of pupil premium, to enable their best outcomes. Consequently, our expenditure covers a broad range of activities.

Impact for Pupil Premium Cohort of 2015 - 2016

Employ a trained teacher to deliver 1:1 tuition in English and Maths to identified children

Three days per week, trained teacher in Maths and English intervention programmes, who works mainly with PP children.

£6,500 per year

Expected or better than expected progress made by all pupils.

Exit and entry data showed that 100% of pupils made accelerated progress in maths intervention

To narrow the gap between attainment in reading and writing for identified pupils.

1:1 support for Year 6 PP pupils in reading, writing and maths vulnerable to not reaching expected level for secondary readiness.

£900 per year

All pupils targeted reach expected level for secondary readiness.

17% of pupil premium pupils in Year 6 were secondary ready in all areas.

Offer enrichment activities to pupils whose academic attainment is strong.

Peripatetic music lessons funded for three pupils.


Pupils have developed their skills in music and have opportunities to perform in school.

All pupils who learned an instrument had at least one opportunity to perform to the whole school.

To identify more able pupils and offer enrichment days in English and Maths where appropriate

Maths and writing enrichment days at local schools.

£150 per day (£500 per year)

All pupils who attended have made at least expected progress.

100% of pupils who attended more-able workshops made at least expected progress, 33% made more than expected progress.

Employ a speech therapist for one child

10 sessions of 1:1 speech therapy to include training of teaching assistant who can consolidate this in class.

£600 x 2 blocks = £1,200

Child develops age appropriate levels in speech and language.

Speech therapy successful and sustained in class by TA doing regular activities to maintain progress


Employ a Family Liaison Officer to work with disadvantaged and troubled families and offer therapy sessions to groups including pupil premium pupils

Signposts families to local support groups, tracks attendance of all pupils and vulnerable groups


Families supported and able to access external agency support where appropriate

Attendance of pupil premium pupils improved last year against non PP

Small intervention groups to improve letter formation and handwriting


Quality of children’s handwriting improved for 100% of pupils attending this intervention

Staff attendance at courses for quality first teaching to ensure a high quality of teaching and learning for all pupils


Quality of teaching across the school judged as good.

Purchase of special equipment such as desktops, ear defenders, to support pupil premium pupil learning
