Intended Learning for w/c11th November 2019

General comments / class messages / diary dates

This year Mrs Kerr and I are trying to help your child to develop independence through various routines in the classroom - such as putting their reading folder in the box every morning. We would love for you to help us out too. One thing we think would really help is if in the morning you are still around after the bell has gone, could you please not come into the quiet area to drop your child off. Please wait at the fence and let them walk in themselves. Mrs Kerr and I will keep a look out for any clingers and we will come and take them off of you at the fence. This will really help them get used to walking to their line all by themselves. Thank you.

Please remember our assembly is next Thursday (21st) morning.

Apologies again if your child managed to get a little bit of paint on their clothes on Friday - it should have washed out easily. We were having lots of fun, flicking paint, to make super Firework pictures like the ones below!

Maths – We are practicing learning our pairs of numbers to 10 off by heart. We will be using these to introduce taking away.

Literacy / phonics – We are going to be writing some poetry this week. We are going to be thinking about our senses and word association and writing two poems about bonfire night and fireworks.

Our sounds this week will be ‘ea’ (green froggy) and ‘ea’ (silent ghost). Our spellings this week be ‘ar’ and ‘ee’.

Science – We are beginning to look at our trees and to start identifying different trees by their features.

RE - We are moving our thinking to Christmas and looking at the story of the first Christmas. As well as starting to practice our nativity songs!!!

Topic – We are starting to think about the UK - what is it? What countries is it made up of?

Our PE this week is on Monday and Thursday – please make sure all children have their PE kits in school. It is helpful if PE kits are left in school over the course of the term, we will always send them home at the end of term. If your child has a club that requires extra kit please send some in so their PE kits do not go home.
